Question Rotor/Pad combo

I have a 99 EB 4X4..... In a month or so I going to replace rotors and pads (replaced calipars last year)... can you guys give some ideas on rotor/pad combo you guys uses with good luck. I really dont have the big bucks to go full out drilled and slot with high performance pads but looking for a good upgrade from stock I think for a truck of this size it stops good not awesome... was thinking possibly a good solid rotor with ceramic pads but heard they kill rotors Ive also heard best rotor you can afford and mid grand ceramic pad, use stock rotors with a good semi metallic..... Im lost alittle never had this problem with my Ranger... never had the weight or size issue before plus also in a month i finally getting my 285 BFGs (finally....goodbye RTSs ) so weight size and bigger tires gonna need some better brakes and who better to ask they you guys who have somewhat the same issues.... Thanks for any ideas

I would go with the "severe duty" pads and rotors. The pads are a bit thicker and the rotors are beffed up a bit. With the better pads they won't have the tendency to warp and the severe duty pads will stop you better and last a lot longer. This may cost a little bit more now, but future replacements of the rotor/pads will be extended.

My experience with pads and rotors has brought me to the conclusion that the majority of the after-market brakes are sub-standard. They squeal, make large amounts of dust, pulsate, wear fast or dont stop well.

My first choice on rotors is the ford replacements from the dealer. I have been told that they are not OEM, but they are what the dealer puts on for in house brake jobs and they are motorcraft. All the aftermarket junk needs to be turned to assure a smooth pedal (unless you buy very expensive aftermarket).

I like the factory pads, but if you need more stopping power, severe duty is best, but probably make more dust I believe. The ceramics last a long time but dont stop as well as others. It's all a trade-off!
