OK, My ABS light is lit, and I looked at the repair manual, and it says basicly nothing. I checked the fuses(Both panels), all of the lines going to the ABS "box" under the hood look good . When I start the car, and keep the brake pedel down the light stays off, but as soon as I release it, it pops on. Is it the "BOO" switch? Is there any thing I am missing?? Is there anyway to disable the light. I am overdue on my inspection and I want to pass. If they see the light on they will fail me Any help would be apprecieated.
yes, it is on top of the rear end houseing under the brake line......the plug comes in from the front of the truck and their is a bolt that holds it down...i think it's a 10 mm....the sensor is sort of round with ridges on it....just pull it and put in the new one.....common problem....i never had to do it just know where it is from friends trucks....
I agree with gui88ford, very common, and very easy to change. Part is a about $22 at Dealer, half that at a Kragen, Autozone, etc.
That was the first thing I did to my new (used 2000) truck in 2004, as I purchased it with the ABS light constantly on.
Literally a five minute, one wrench job. It is a little hard to view (on the top/front center of the diff), but if you can jack up the back (use some stands!), it makes it quite easy.
I just wanted to let u guys know that the ABS sensor was the problem. I put in today, and no more ABS light. 1st thing in the morning inspection time. This forum is great. Thanks again for the Help.
