Try replacing the PCV Valve. A bad PCV valve will cause this.
If it continues, then you will need to give your engine a compression test. I could be that compression is slipping by the piston rings into your engine block and forcing back pressure through your PCV valve. To make a long story short. The engine might need rebuilding.
Thanks, I've already replaced the PCV valve, one thing I noticed, there wasn't much vacuum at the valve itself when I pulled it out while the engine was running.
PCV valves wear out and the passageways under the carb clog with carbon. Replace the PCV annually, just because they "rattle" does NOT mean they are any good.
I had a very similar problem and it basically went away once I hooked the line from the pcv up to a good vacuum source at the base of the carb. I also have a vented/filtered oil filler cap on the other valve cover to allow clean air into the crankcase to replace the vapors sucked out through the pcv.
