hey i got a 1982 f150 it came with a 2barrel 351w and i wanted to convert to 4barrel, so i bought an edelbrock 4barrel intake and a used 750cfm, the choke on the carb was mechanical. i doubt that the choke maters that much i let it warm up and opened it all the way. but when i drove the truck around it was choppy and would die.
i was wondering what the heck was wrong and if i maby need to upgrade the fuel pump
I had the same problem I rebuilt a 351w and converted it to a 4 barrel edelbrock 750 and I messed with it and mess with it sometimes it would start sometimes it would not and it would not run worth a crap even if it did start so I put a good ol 2 barrel back on it and it starts everytime and runs like a champ So I dont know if it would be the fuel pump or it is just to much carb for a 351w I know most people say that a 600 or 650 is all u need for a 351w otherwise all the fuel is just goin out the exhaust and is being wasted that is what people told me Just my opionion just what people have told me Good luck hope u get it figured out Dustin
Did you hook the choke up? I mean did you acutally hook a cable to it, or is it just flopping around? Also 750cfm is a LOT of carb for a bone stock 351. I would try a 500cfm carb, I think you'll see a big improvement in drivability.
yeah i have a 600cfm holley, but it doesn't have all the bells and whistles so to speak, its just a single feed except i think it needs a rebuild kit, it wont run the truck at all, it may be clogged somewhere.
if anyone wants a duel feed single pump holley 3310-3 750cfm carb, i'll sell em one, it runs it just needs a lot of fuel, it does leak some around the pump, but a gasket would fix it its about 1 drip per 17 seconds at idle i paid about $95 on ebay
