Does anyone have and trickes or pointers for getting the doors on my 79 lined up just right so the fenders line up? I'm putting all new Ford factory skin on my truck and lineing it all up is a bit tricky. any help?
Jake,
Welcome to the world of truck resto. If you've got the fenders removed your in hog heaven. I usually put a piece of **** carpet in the bottom of the door and slam it shut. Then I tighten up the hinges and see what I got. Do you have the cab seals in place? This will help center the door and could eliminate the nedd for carpet. Put your fenders on and see if you have to shim the fender or door. Always shim the fender first, if you have a choice. It's a dynamic process and a trial and error method is as respectable as any.
Good Luck, Have Fun,

P.S. If you cut your cab roof for rust repair, you could have a whole new world of problems. If you ever do, leave the doors on and reweld the roof the match the doors.
Thanks King, I only had to cut hole (smaller then a fist) to fix minor rust in each cab corner. My biggest problem now is matching body lins between the fenders and the doors and at the same time haveing the right (or close anyway) gap between the fender and the little bit of cab it fits under (where the emblems go)
