Computer in 87?

It depends on which engine was in it. The 300 six and 302 were EFI, while the 351 was still carbureted. The 351 might have a computer for timing purposes, but it is not EFI. All computers used in 87 were EEC-IV, OBD-I.

Yes, it has a computer. Even the carb'd models that year used a feedback carb. It was a very primitive setup, but there is a computer under there somewhere. If it's EFI, then everything is computer controlled, and it's a much better setup.

Yes I have the 351 w/ carb. Actually my cabr is an aftermarket Edelbrock sitting on a Edelbrock manifold. I am trying to figure out if there is anything that should be hooked to the carb to run properly, and also if I can hook in to the computer with my Carputer.

Could be, and I'm no carb expert. I thought I read somewhere that all trucks after '83 or so came with a feedback carb if they weren't FI. I know that swapping that system out for a duraspark is pretty easy and commonly done. I don't know of anyone that says, hey, that feedback carb was a GREAT idea!!!
