Thumbs down

they should pay you to take one of their trucks. The value of the truck drops like 8 grand when you drive off the lot. I've had my truck for about 8 months and only have about 7500 miles and looked into getting rid of it. I am upside down at least 5 grand and I'm, only paying 1.3% so its not like I'm just paying interest. Ford is a money pit so the better suggestion is go buy a Chevy or Dodge but if you really want a ford I would suggest you save the pain and send me the money you are about to waste.

cullen,

Sell your 04 on ON YOUR OWN. If you trade it in, you'll be leaving $2000-$4000 on the table.

Sell it, THEN go buy your 06.

Why an 06??? You have ~150,000 miles left on your 04!!!

The best gage of value is www.kbb.com. You can get a feel for what the dealer will give you, what you can get from a neighbor and what the dealer will sell it to you for.

I say keep the 04 if it is not giving you any problems.

Crownn ... what you discribe is not unique to Ford. It is the nature of new car ownership. If you want to avoid the first year depreciation ... buy used. The only modern vehicle I know that doesn't depreciate the minute you drive it off the lot is the Toyota Prius. However, I dare you to hook your boat up to that thing.

I was wondering the same thing. Ther is really no substantial difference that would make anyone even know you have a new truck other than a color change and round instead of square fog lights.

I read your post on another thread about all the mods you have made to your 150. I can easily understand a dealer not wanting to touch the machine. I DON'T!!!!

Also, I have to thank you for your continued posting to this forum for it serves as a great sense of entertainment to me. It is rare I see such blind ignorance displayed with alarming frequency. Vehicles depreciate when you drive them off the lot (another one of your postings), GET OVER IT!!!

As for the difference in trade between the Silverado and your 150, I don't know!!! AND ... I don't care. Chevy makes a good truck. We can debate all day long Ford vs. Chevy. In the end, it really doesn't matter. You do your research, you make your decision and you live with the results. IT IS CALLED BEING AN ADULT!!!!

In the end, you will have your wish. Ford will not make it far into the future as an independent company. Nassier messed up the company in a big way and result is they have no sedan business to speak of. They lost another 4+ points in 2005, they are cash flow negative, and the Chineze will enter the space at a price point neither Ford nor GM will be able to compete. Make no doubt about it ... THIS WILL HURT YOU!!!! and everyone else in America. This is not good.

So PLEASE, go sell either your 150 or your computer, either one should get you the hell off this forum and that would make the rest of us enjoy it that much more.

As for me, I really enjoy my 150. I believe it is a testament to the US auto industry. It is about as close to perfect as you can ask for a vehicle designed to carry 2000 lbs, tow 9000 lbs, carry 5 people and provide comfort allowing it to serve the america family. IMHO: Nissan, Toyota, Dodge and Chevy ALL have great products. Of the lot, I bought the best.

Sometimes dealers get a "feel" of customer. This dealer may of had "half a feel" here. Take the deal and run! I'm really amazed he offered to even deal here!

This is true. The most valuable trade in you can have is a bone stock unblemished low mileage vehicle. The true cost of a modification is the cost of the modification plus the additional decrease in the value of the vehicle (often much more than the cost of the modification). Dealers and potential buyers automatically assume that the owner who made modifications took advantage of them and the vehicle was abused or mistreated. When I workd my way through college, I bought, repaired and sold used cars at the wholesale level and I spent a lot of time returning used vehicles to stock condition to increase their sales price. We even removed all non-factory trailer hitches (the dealers worried that towing may have caused damage to the drive train).
