i have a 76 f-100 it has a 73 250 straight 6. is it possible to install new rings,pistons,etc with the engine in the truck? it looks like i should have enugh room to pull the oil pan etc.. please help!
It's best to pull the engine. Take a look at everything you need to see right up in the light.
It's only gonna take an hour or so to get that engine out of there.

Yes, it can be done and everybody has different reasons for doing it this way. Just make sure you get a ridge reamer and knock the ridge off the top of the cylinder. If you don't, you will have a good chance of breaking your new rings when they come up and hit the ridge left by the old rings.
