today i coughed up the dough and bought my 95 f250 supercab. the sound system is pretty week and i'd like to put subs in it but i cant figure where to put them. maybe under the rear seat???
i'd like to keep as much fuction as i can of all the seates and of course i need the seating space too. any good ideas? How about pictures?? thanks
dan
You can put them behind or under the rear seat, that would be up to you. I would just get two 8"'s behind the seat, you will have a nice sound and plenty of room.
This guy here is just up the road from me and he did all my system's when I was into that stuff. He make's custom boxes anyway you want them. www.soundoffaudio.com/installs.cfm If you call ask for Matt (the owner)
I am interested in finding out what kind of system you put in, I will be doing the same to my 93 F150 in the spring. I was thinking about putting the subs behind the rear seat as well, but will you get good sound if the seat is in use?
i had a toyota years back in high school with subs squeezed behind the seat and it sounded great. i'm confident that as long as i have enough power and decent quality stuff anywhere in the cab would be more than adiquate.
my seat is tight to the back wall of the cab, i don't see how there could be room??? would you remove the plastic panel? any idea how much room there is behind that?
I spent a lot of time staring at the vast cabin space in my crewcab, and couldn't really figure out the best place to put subs. Under the rear seat, behind the rear seat (almost no room really), or maybe integrate them in a center console.
Once I replaced the front bench seat with two minivan seats, there's even more space under the front buckets to mount a sub, in a homemade cabinet, which I can make so that both sides are acoustically connected together, with two down-firing subs up to about 15" in diameter. I'll probably go with 12's so things aren't too tight, making removal of the seats easier down the road should I ever need to.
i was thinking under the seat's too, but i've got the factory seats and want to keep them, since they are in such perfect shape. (sound system is important to me but not that important) the space under these seats is virtualy none!
If anyone reads this and has any pictures of creative installs, please post them. I got a 92 F150 crew cab last week, and I too have been racking my brain trying to figure out where to squeeze the bass reinforcement in.
