It lives~!

Hi guys,

I know its not as exciting as some modified truck or something, but I drove the 56 tonight for the first time tonight!!!!!!!!!

I am very happy and it drives just fine. Everything works as far as I can see.

It will take a while to get used to not having power steering and brakes though.

Congrats on the drive! No power steering is no big deal (For me anyway), but I do like power brakes. Now you have to drive it everywhere!

Hey, Brian -

I've been saying to myself that I want to put power steering and power brakes on my 56 for three years now. I'm getting used to not having them. It's only a drag when in a parking lot. The front disk are a big help. I've locked the brakes up in a panic stop before, so I have enough leg for the job. Too many other priorities now. Maybe later.

Congrats, and happy driving. Now you'll find out how creative you can be in the need for another "trip to the store". I'll bet I put 500 miles on my truck in 3-mile trips during the first 3 months I owned it.

Do you Always insult the Women in you life by Calling them an 'IT'?

Your '56 is a Grand Lady & should be treated as such! Now, go to your room untill you understand your mistake.

Good on ya, mate, t'isn't it Grand to Finally have the 'Olde Girl' on the road again?

And you do not have to drive around w/o Power Brakes or Steering, as there are Companies out there that Sell Original Style Options for your truck.

I sit corrected. Please accept my appology (both you and her) Now, she needs a good name.

I know about all the aftermarket things and most of the "darksider" options. The first order of business was getting it all legal. The second is cash. We shall see how it goes from here.

Thanks for the support and help everyone.

No worries, mate, just as you learned your lesson.

As for naming her, she'll either do it herself & she'll give you several clues as to what she wishes to be called.

Or you will do what 90% of the male population does & ignore what the Women in their life wishes & give her a name from either a Characteristic she has, The current Colour she is, etc.

Mine has several, "The Olde Girl", "Wee Beastie" (bigger than most, not as big as some), "Draca" (fire breathing, female red dragon), "Ricer Stomper", or "Ranchera".

Know ALL about not being Liquid funding wise & the Original Style Options are best, as they are Just bolt On, w/o having to Hack, Cut or Adapt a Bleedin' Thing.

Happy Christmas (12 days of) & a Merry New Year

Brian,

That is cool. I am happy for you. A rolling running truck beats the heck out of a non running one. Also you will find it a guy to drive because you don't have to worry about scratching it or anything goofy like that. Enjoy yourself, be safe, and most of all drive it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

Awesome! Congrats.

I have power brakes on 4 wheel drums, works great, not too expensive, and safer! Stock steering is cool, I like the feel of old trucks.

Like the good Col says, when she is ready to have a name she will tell you what she wants to be called. Like most women you meet she may tell you right away or play it coy and wait until you get to know each other better.
