(also posted in brakes forum) I need to replace a missing front parking brake cable for a 1969 F-250 4 wd (pedal to equalizer). Most parts stores here list the item as discontinued, can't get any info on it. The books I have don’t give the length of the cable. I was wondering if anyone knows of a cable that will replace it from a later year?. I was thinking of 73-76 F-250 4wd cables. Thanks in advance.
Thanks for the reply thesprocket26. I would rather buy a "shelf" item. I agree it could be made but, my cable is missing and I would not know where to start with the size.
I have been asking this question here since I got my truck...I've gotten alot of answers, but none that lead me to a "golden solution."
First, NAPA online lists all three cables (Front, rear-left, rear-right)...but I have not ordered them to see if they fit...NAPA has not done me wrong...much, though! lol
Outside of that, you can just start ordering parts through LMC or NPD and see what matches the cables you have...ALOT of stuff is listed as "73-77", etc, that will fit perfect on a 67-69...you just have to buy and return things until you figure it out.
After that....there are companies that "make" cable to match....so find a decent "source set" and send them off for reproduction.....
