Limited Slip??
Posi-traction is Limited Slip, it's just GM's name for from back in the 60's.
Auburn and Detroit's LS units are MUCH better.
Auburn uses a cone/spring engagement system that applies more force as more bias between the wheels is sensed. Meaning that if one wheel is slipping, the spring push harder on the cone clutches and apply more force to the spider gear, giving better traction. It is still a clutch setup, but MUCH better than the Trak-Lok.
Now, if you want a good LS (yes, it will cost more) get the Detroit True-Trac. No clutches, no cones, nothing to wear out. It's a gear driven setup and is ALWAYS engaged. It can be setup, prior to installation to suit your driving style, by setting the bias from left to right. It does not slip, and is as close to a locker as you can get, without the annoying clunking, locking, unlocking, and tire chirping that happens with a locker.
Hope that clarifies it a little for ya.
