i think what your concerned about is a condition called cavation which is a pitting of the outside cylinder walls in the coolant passagescaused by air bubbles in the coolantsticking to the wall & bursting as the piston passes & vibrates the wall which erodes a small part of the iron block each time IF the coolant has not been treated with an additive to prevent the condition.

dont know what the price is but these trucks seem to run & run & run with just a little maintence. 2 years ago i gave $2700 for mine & everything but the dome lite works.
