length - law

Does anyone know if there is a law about the max. length of trruck and trailer?


ex. F350 Crew Cab 8' bed and a 32' gooseneck

Yes there is and it depends on the state you are in. In Michigan it is 65' total length from bumper to bumper when hooked up. Check with your local DMV office for current regulations or your local motor carrier officer for semi's.

Most states are 65'. I have to get a permit for Florida.

It varies from 55 feet to 85 feet in overall length and from 40 to 60 feet for max trailer length depending on the state. What state or states are you wanting to know about?

Well I live in PA but will be traveling to AZ and Utah in the spring. Hauling a couple of jeeps for some trail riding.

PA is 60 feet total and AZ and Utah is 65 feet. On a trip out west, any state you are likely to go thru will be at least 60ft for max. CO is 70ft and WY is 85ft and SD is 80ft. In Utah you have to be able to stop within 40ft at 20 MPH too.
