hey everybody
ive got a 96 f-250 x cab psd with a dana 55 heavy duty i think , nothing but problems any way, u jounts ball joints, and tie rods keep going bad. the truck only sees the highway, what to do. swap axles? and with what? how muck work, is there a easiy swap? please post
It's already a bolt in for his truck. He has a Dana 50 front axle, and a solid Dana 60 will bolt right in. The hard part is finding one.
They're a sought after item, so you can expect to pay $1000 for one in decent shape. You have to watch the gear ratio; it must match the rear axle if you want to use your 4x4. You also have to make sure it came from a 1986.5 to 1997 F-350. If not, the spring perches won't match up and it'll be more work.
You'd need the Dana 60 front-end, F350 track bar and bracket, F350 drag link and tie-rod, the front driveshaft. I have a swapped Dana 60 under my 95 F250. Pics in my gallery.
