I know that my truck has been leaking oil, but I didn't realize that it was leaking trany fluid also until I parked on top of some snow and noticed the bright red color on the snow. Anyway, I have a 2004 PSD CC, and the fluid is leaking on the right side under the passenger side door. It seems to be leaking from some kind of external trany filter that is inline to one of the two (2) trany fluid metal lines. I was able to grab this filter and basically spin it in its place, and noticed a little bit of seepage from the rubber hoses that mount to the filter. So I cleaned it all up and tightened the four (4) clamps. Hopefully this will fix the problem. What do you guys think, and what filter is this?
Do I just need to realize that diesels just leak oil? I mean, I was looking for the trany fluid leak, and I found 4-5 different areas that were clearly leaking oil, however my oil level is fine when I check the dip stick, so no worries there. Its just that this is a brand new truck, and the darn thing leaks everywhere it seems. Its just frustrating to me.
My dealer said they found a tranny fluid leak that I did not know about.
Heck, they had the tranny in for recall already.
I didn't ask them to investigate tranny problems as a part of my recent service request.
I recall that that they said they had found that I had a tranny leak from some upper location and not from the lower pan or lower entity.
I was not aware of this leak or concerned about this when I took my truck in to the dealer for a leak of coolant at the egr to turbo hose.
(To the best of my knowledge there was no tranny fluid leak. But, the service dealer said they fixed this on the phone ??? Does not show on my service invoice.)
Was this a leftover part of the previous Transmission Recall from Ford regarding the planatary gear situation?
