How Tight ?
Can someone tell me how tight to go on the nut that holds the front rotor on the spindle. I beleive thats called the spindle. Anyway I just replaced the wheel bearings and my repair manual has disappeared. I've heard conflicting stories on the proper tightness of this nut. I went snug until there was a little drag on the rotor then backed it off a hair until it felt good with no play or wobble in it. The problem is that I'm getting a little steering shimmy at speeds over about 55mph and I think it is related to the wheel bearings. Thanks for any help

It really doesn't take much.
You tighten to SET the bearing,loosen a little while spinning the rotor then *just past* hand tight find the nearest slot to the hole and that's that.

you could possibly have a bad tie rod end with a shimmy at ~55mph
