Removing glue from dash

Removing glue from dash
Got the dash pad off last night ,wondering what any of you all have found to remove the 40 year old glue without softening the paint to much...will be sanding dash , will not strip to metal on top unless I have to.

Try WD-40, Liquid Wrench, or I have used a product called Goof Off.
