trans and rear end

I was just wondering what rear ends came in the 1987 150s. Is it a 9in or 8.8. Also I have a Overdrive tranny 4 gears. What kind of trans is this? Is it a c6? Also my truck has running lights on the top of the cab. Was this some special package? Like a heavy duty towing packing or somthing?

Thank you
Brett

Welcome to FTE. Your rear end is an 8.8, probably a 3.55 but not too sure. Look on the door sticker and give us the axle code.

I do not believe that the E4OD tranny (Electronically controlled 4 speed with OD) was out during that year, so that rules that one out. If your shift pattern goes P,R,N,OD,D,1..... then you have the AOD transmission. The C6 did not have overdrive by the way.

What engine do you have? I doubt you have a 351 because those only came with the C6, which you stated your transmission has overdrive, which rules that combo out. Hope this gives you a place to start.

Alrighty then. I'm almost 100% sure that you have the AOD transmission then. Give us the axle code off your door sticker so we can verify your rear end ratio.
