Yes, it can be made to work fine. The trick is sealing the box. Fuel lines are easy, as you can install fittings that have the appropriate threading on each side of the carb box wall, and seal with RTV or a gasket. Attach short fuel line hoses on the inide, the regular fuel lines on the outside.

The trickiest part in avoiding leaks is the throttle cable. I have found that using a tight rubber grommet works fine, then you put the throttle cable end on AFTER you push it through. RTV the grommet and it will still leak minimally, but not enough to impact your enjoyable boost.

I have yet to see an Edlebrock work very well on a blow thru application. A properly set up Holley and a bonnet is by far the best method to run a blow thru carb setup.

thanks so a holley carb would be the best to run with boost i hear they have alot of tuning options compared to a edelbrock would a barry grant be good? so all i would have to worry about would be the throttle cable which i kinda thought about

You need a holley prepped for blow thru, and a good bonnett. A comlete enclosure is not needed. http://www.csucarbs.com/Products.html , that is a bonnet. Very simple to use.

What kind of tricks would need to be done such as jetting, and other various tunning modifications?

Solid floats, drill the power valve orfice larger, and jetting. That is the basics for getting started.

Blow through carb mods are best left to the Pros and are not cheap. I'm going to start with a carb inclosure because I don't have the $$$ right now. You also need to consider that 7 lbs of fuel pressure and 7 lbs of boost = 0 fuel pressure. Your going to need a bigger pump and a fuel pressure regulator that is boost referenced.

Blow thru mods are cheap. You can boost reference your stock pump or run an electric pump with a boost reference regulater, been there, done that. To run a carb bonnet or enclosure, you need the same carb mods.

Check out www.toohighpsi.com for some very good, detailed junkyard turbo and supercharger projects. This site has a ton of good information for making big boosted power cheap.

The Carter/Edelbrock AFB can be used for blow through. Studabaker used a Carter in the Avante (I think that's right) somewhere around the late 50's / early 60's. It was blow thru turbo and one seriously fast car in its day. I don't know if anyone has tried the AVS/Thermoquad carbs, but I don't see why they wouldn't work if the AFB did. The plastic body on the thermoquad could be an issue maybe?

Check out http://www.vs57.com/carb.htm for blow thru carb mods on holley/carter/edelbrock as well as some oem carbs.

Here is another turbo/carb web site. It's a little off the wall, but some really cool stuff. http://salt2salt.com/TurboStude/TurboStude.html
