66 Glass

I can probably get a 66 stepside for free, but it needs all the glass, and a new engine. The guy said he was using gear oil at the end because it had no pressure otherwise...

I'll probably toss a 300 I6 in it cause it's a 240 I6 now. I just don't want to spend a ton on the glass...

Thanks,

David

Back glass is easy. Door glass is fairly easy. Vent windows are a little difficult sometimes because the frames get rusty. Windshield I would just buy new, as old ones are brittle and usually pretty nicked up by now. They aren't that expensive if you shop around (I find pricing varies quite a bit with the glass companies).
I see you are in Philly area...there is a really old junkyard outside of Bernville, PA that has a half dozen trucks. You could probably get most of your glass there. Hoffert's, phone 610-488-1577. You may also want to check with the Mid-Atlantic Slick 60s members as they have parted out a lot of trucks, and glass doesn't go too quickly. Link to MAC chapter

David,

Windshield- $250.00
Vent- $25.00 ea
Door- $45.00 ea
Rear-$85.00

You can also get the vent and door glass from a local glass dealer that sells flat glass; bring them in a template and they can cut it to shape for you. I got these prices from Sacramento Vintage. 800-888-FORD-100

Good luck,
Vern

I just had new windshield, rear glass, and rubbers replaced in my 66'. Cost me $352.41 installed. I was going to do it myself but for that price I let the pros do it.

Just waiting to get my anti rattle kit for the door installed to get new side glass.

Hey guy, thanks alot...

1bad66, where did you get the glass?

I'm going to go look at the truck this week... It's been inside a garage for like 15 years... The guy is pulling his 70 Mach 1 out. It only has like 30k miles on it and has been in storage for like 20+ years. He's got an 71 Lemans and an 68 El Dorado... I can't wait to see this place. He had the truck outside and the neighborhood kids broke out all the windows before he put it inside.
