I don't know what the big deal is about rebates. We have always got them without any problems.
Tom.
Tom, you need to go to PCworld and similar sites and do a search on rebates. I don't think its a conspiracy against certain individuals, its company bean counters and the lawyers who write in all the fine print, that and the third party firms that process the rebates. And the stores and manufacturers that hide behind the scene.
So just as some gift cards are eliminating the outrageous fees after a lot of light was shined on gift card conditions and fees, we can hope rebates will be handled more honestly in the future.
I have in the past crossed the T's, dotted the I's, read the fine print, followed through, and still never received a penny. I have had good luck with Staples though.
I love getting money off the product. The rebate idea is ok, but I'd also like to see it be instant in the store and have the store contact the manufacturer to get the monies back. Of all the rebates I've gotten I've been pleased.
The only one I didn't get was from Symantec for Norton System Works 2005. I mailed exactly what they wanted for proof of ownership of the product. They said that did not work and needed more proof. So I mailed even more proof via actual product serial number stickers. They still declined it. So, I'd have to agree with Dennis. I have lost faith in computer related rebates.
But all the other product rebates have been good to me so far.
