Another one for the Books
Ok, some background first. I got a call from my brother and asked if I wanted to buy another Aerostar van. I said I didn’t know. He said Even for $25.00 bucks? It’s a 93.
I said tell me about it. So he handed the phone to the guy selling it.
It had a good running engine (3.0) and Transmission. That was the reason he bought it was for the Transmission. He has a 91 that the trans was slipping on. Worked great when cold but starts to slip when it got warm. So I said OK just give me the trans out of your van & I’ll take the 93 for $25.00. Now I have a Parts van.
OK now listen to this…. You’re not going to believe this.
He changed out the transmissions. Now some of you know that the 91 has a Floor-shift and the 93 has a Column-shift. Because of that the Shift lever on the Trans is different on the two. On a 91 it hangs down on the 93 it points up.
Here it comes…………
The *@$$
Took the nut off both trans then use a fork like they break loose ball joints to knock the shift-lever off the shaft. Then wondered why the arm slipped and wouldn’t shift into the gears.
I told him that they are pressed on and you don’t take them off like that. So he’s taking it some place to be welded to the shaft.
I didn’t tell him that if his buddy that is going to do it leaves it in the trans when he does it will most likely burn up his seal & maybe some other stuff.
Oh Well let them live and learn. I might wind up with another trans for parts.

My Christmas came Early last Saturday at 6am when my boys came up from LA for their School Vacation. They brought back my 89 Aerostar and is taking a Hertz one-way rental back. They said they don't need the van because most every place they go is within a mile or two. Wish I could find then some Bicycles to use.
They said now they don't have to worry about the van there.

I hope you don't demand another present from your brother.
