Question parts swapping question

Will a '57 F100 front axle fit a '56 F100? There's a MorDrop 4" drop unit available locally with springs and hardware. That would fit into my evil plans nicely, heh, heh, heh.

I'm not sure but I think I have either heard or read somewhere that a '57 will fit and actually gives you like a 1" drop right off the bat. So if you looking for 4" total drop you might want to look into this before final purchase. Could be wrong but it's worth looking into.

The stock '57 axle has a 1" drop built into it as compared to the '56 axle. The '57 springs are longer. The kinpin diameter is the same, but I am not sure if the '56 spindles will fit on the '57 axle. I have both and am waiting to get my '57 axle back to see if I can use the '56 spindles. I have disc brakes on my truck and it appears the disc assembly will not go onto the '57 spindles. The steering arm is different on the two years as is the drag link. If you were to ask this question in a couple of weeks I would have a better answer.
Someone else may have a good answer now.
