Hello to all! Am changing out engine in a '72 F-100. Taking out a 302 w/ a C-4, putting in a 390 w/ a C-6. I know I've to change the rear yokes on the trans - some questions on what else I may face:
1) Will the yokes swap or are the shafts different size?
2) What other issues might I face getting this engine/trans combo in?
All posts welcome; have been a mechanic by trade before, so am comfortable with the terminology. Thanx!
G,
You'll need new perches. The C6 driveshaft is larger in diameter. The C6 driveshaft is also shorter. The two set of holes on the frame are for the C4/C6 crossmember setup.

I also have a '72 with 302 and am thinking of swapping it out for a 390. How about the front suspension...would the springs have to be changed to accomodate the added weigth of the 390?
