After looking at my brochure and deciding how I want my truck built, it came down to color and visiting a large dealer relatively nearby to go check out some colors.
After having driven Red the past few years, I figured I'd start with Dark Satin Green to be different. Well, had I not read the window sticker, I would have never known it was Green. Maybe I am losing my color vision but I swore that truck had to be a dark gray or even black! I was thinking I'd see a nice rich forest green or something that would stand out.
Anyone have one of these HD's in "Dark Satin Green?" Does it grow on you? Does it ever appear to be green?
Last year I ordered a king ranch in dark satin green. Thank god I canceled the order. the more I looked at them on dealers lots the more I disliked it. I rarely see them on the street. I just ordered a KR in the dark copper, glad I did not get the satin green.
I have the dark satin green and I think it looks better after, or when, you take care of it. I recently had mine professionally detailed and when I got it back, I couldn't believe how nice it looked. I know all vehicles look nice when you first get them back but, mine was over a month ago and has been covered in road salt and washed 'clean' by rain and still looks good.
The detail shop used a clay bar and that may be what made the difference.
I do agree that it does change colors according to the light. I didn't like the color of this truck for the first 17 months I had it now, I'm amazed at what a beautiful color it is.
I was just at the Ford web site, and it sure looks green there. Even a bit lighter than the green I got on a 2002 SD (I don't remember what they called it).
Could it be the sticker was wrong? If not, they did a poor job representing the color at the web site.
I noticed that the list prices went done a few dollars, funny seeing that, from 2005 to 2006. Must be a change in standard equipment.
I have a Dark Satin Green Metalic Superduty. It is different you don't really see that many of them. The color can look different depending on the light...if its overcast it can look really dark and if its really bright the green will pop out as shown below. I don't know...I like it I guess, I would prefer to have black or the new "Dark Stone" color.
Same experience for me. I wanted the green and located one on a local dealer lot via the internet. When I went to check it out I questioned the salesman if he was showing me the correct truck as it definitely didn't look green. It looked to me to be more like a dark, dark blue. I went ahead and bought it after the test drive because I still thought it was a great color that looked even better with the beige accent trim (once I got over the initial shock of it not really looking like what I thought green should look like). Actually, the beige trim really brings the color out and is an excellent contrast to the satin green. Additionally, in doing my internet search I noticed that satin green seemed to be the least available color. Therefore, I figured I'd have a fairly unique truck color in my area that would somewhat separate me from the crowd. After the first month or two, my eyes (or brain) have adjusted to the color and it definitely looks like a deep, deep green to me now. I love the color and am glad I got it.
I ordered Dark Satin Green (pics in my gallery) because I had never seen a Super Duty in that color in Southern or Central California. It is very dark and can easily be mistaken for black in low light. My only issue is it reacts to hot sun just like a black vehicle! It looks great though.
If I was ordering a new truck, I would probably order Arizona Tan with the black lower paint, but that's just my opinion.
Everyone I've run across seems to love the color. It does show dust easily and can look black in most low to medium light, I wouldn't trade it. I just went outside and snapped this photo, it was the best shot I could get to show its color, sorry. https://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gal...oid=99325&.jpg
Yeah that is one reason why I considered it, there are not many around here like it. Most are white, red, or black. Maybe I should take another look before I pass judgment.
I also have Dark Green Satin depending on the light the color seems to change. But, by no means does it actually have that green color like the previous green Fords. It is not easy to keep clean it shows all dirt, salt, water spots. But love the color, would order another with the same color if I had to again.
I just washed mine to remind myself of how nice the color looked and found out that it was damaged in a recent storm.
When I came out of work that day, there was a large piece of debris (4'x8'x6") next to the truck, turns out it landed on the truck and slid to the ground. Roof is dented in several places as is the door where it curves up to the roof. Scratched the side of the truck as it slid down from the roof.
I sure hope this paint can be matched!

I love that color! Hopefully they stop making it soon!
I ordered mine a week ago, and like having somthing a little different than the 50 black SD's or the 40 blue ones you see everywhere! Havent even been able to find a picture of one till this string!
