Anyone knows if a EFI inline fuel pump is capable of pumping light 10-40 engine oil. Thinking of fabricating a pre-luber out of a cheaper and more available fuel pump than a costly 400-500 dollar oil pump kit. It will only run a few seconds before start-up.
Try a Moroso or Canton Accusump- you can use them as a preluber with a little coordination in your startup process. Or, if you want to go even lower-buck...I have seen a couple of homemade Accusump deals that worked pretty well, fabricated out of small hydraulic cylinders.
You can get a remote solenoid to operate the Accusump without needing to either install it in the cab or open the hood every time you start the truck. Or, again, if you don't want to pay for the remote kit, probably wouldn't be hard to make one.
If you want to go the pump route, I'd look at maybe a 12v transfer pump, like what is used by farmers, or at least a diesel fuel pump. Last time I looked, you could get a transfer pump that was capable of handling heavier liquids. The cost, though, may make the Accusump method more feasible.
Lastly, the cheapest (& not ideal) method is to put a separate switch in your ignition so that you can crank the engine withou firing it. As I said, not perfect, but better than nothing.

A buddy of mine has a '67 Chevelle...bought it new. It has 300k+ on the engine and still pushes stock compression. Why? He has a pre-luber. Here's how it works...
He has his ignition set to turn on the pre-luber. Then he has a pressure switch (like an average oil pressure switch) that engages the solenoid when the pressure reaches 10 PSI. He turns the switch, you watch the guage rise to 10 PSI. and "boom", the engine starts.
Unfortunately I don't know where he got the pre-lube pump...but I'll do what I can to find out.
