Fuel Blend ??

I refueled today and there was a sign on the pump that said 60/40 blend or 40/60 blend, I cant remember right off the top of my head. At the time I was thinking this was #1 and #2 diesel blending. Now I'm wondering if it was some sort of bio diesel blend. There were no signs or indications of it being bio diesel. Is this just the way the stations tell you they are blending #1 and #2 or did I just fill up w/ bio ??? Also, I'm in omaha area if this helps. Thanks!

Well generally if they are selling a 60/40 blend they are talking about #1 and #2 I think the blend would be different with bio diesel so its safe to say you filled with 60 % #2 and 40 % #1

yeahh im not sure the exact ration for bi diesel on this engine but either one u mentioned seems way to much, at least by the ford guidelines............but someone may have person experience with it where i dont.....more than likely a winter and summer fuel blend.......a

I will say though i have never seen a cetane rating or a number (1 or 2) rating here in the area that i am located in here in SE PA.

If it was bio it would be posted B20 or what ever the percent was . I would say thats the winter blend percent that you got. Most stations have switched to that now that its cold.

I would be more worried about running a 40% mix of #1 than running Bio-D. Bio-D has more lubricity than #1, or #2 for that matter. The draw back being the elvated pour temp you encounter with dio-D. Either way, you might want to look into adding a fuel additive to bring back the lubricity you lost with the #1 mix, or decrease the pour temp of bio-d.

On edit: I think it is Ford's stance is that a 5% blend of bio-d is OK by them. I am probably going to start running B5 because of the ULS diesel fuel that is going to be coming out soon. Running as little as 2% Bio-d will give back the lubricity that the ULS fuel takes away. Either I am goin to run B5 or Power Service with every tank, I have not gotten confirmation from any distributors if they are going to automatically add an additive package to the diesel fuel to make up for the decreased lubricity of ULS diesel.

Being in Nebraska, I've been running PowerService white bottle these last couple cooler months w/ each tank anyways. It seems like every station I go to around here, the diesel is different!
