I have a 94 f-350 turbo diesel . i have a rebuilt e-40d trans that always runs hot even with new trans cooler.
It also has very poor performance ,and o/d lite flashes right before the tranny starts to slip. when it finally shifts from 1/2 it feels like being rear-ended.
I think it is probably something electrical because i have tried about eveything else. I also tried by passing the stock trans cooler but the heat problem continued.
I don't know much about electrical, so I would appreciate any ideas thrown my way.
Welcome to FTE. How are you sure that its running hot? Do you have a gauge? I'd pull the codes because your o/d light flashing indicates that your tranny is storing a problem code in the computer. Go to www.fordfuelinjection.com and it will tell you how to pull the codes yourself. Im guessing something electronic. It can be anything from a bad VSS, PSOM, or even a sensor on the injection pump (cant remember exactly what it is.)
