on occasion when I try to start it in the morning it cranks but won't start
I have used a timing light and I am getting spark to the plugs
I can hear ( I think ) the fuel pump.
the thing that hacks me off is it will go 4-6 months running fine, screw up, then it may go a few weeks and do it again.
it only does this in the morning, and when it doesn't start I wait a few minutes, a few hours, or I come home from work and it starts right up
It's not the cold because it started when it was 19 but not when it was 32 degrees.
however it does seem to happen more often in the winter time.
I have replaced the module that is on the distributor.
please help before I go bald.

You might want to check the coil since you already replaced the module. You might have an intermittent problem. I realize you checked it with the timing light, but it is a thought. The only other thing that comes to my mind is the ecm.
One thing I would do, especially on an intermittent no start like that, is to pull codes from the computer. Some no starts will leave clues stored as trouble codes in continuous memory (the set of codes output after the separator pulse in the KOEO test). See Ken00's tech info post for how to pull codes.
My Guess Is The Enertia Switch.mine Did The Same Thing.funny Thing Is I Had A New Motor Put In And Had That Problem And Kept Blaming The Guy Who Put My Motor In,but It Wasn't Him.i Removed The Switch And Never Had Another Problem.(p.s. Hey I Know My Fuel Pump Wont Shut Off In An Accident, but How Am I Going To Get In An Accident If Truck Does'nt Run,ahhh
