Welcome bigblu from oleblue!
My blue is a '70 F250 4x4.
Now,
I know HotWheel just started making a 78/9 hotwheel. As for the Diecast,I can't quite remember it but something seems to be at the back of my mind about a silver/black 79 diecast????
Man,
Sorry that i can't help more but i know i seen something.
Maybe someone will know.

Yeah the Hotwheels is a '79 it's black with a canopy and an ugly green praying mantis graphic down the side, I'm looking at it right now. I have also seen a Sam Walton truck, I can't remember what year but it's white with a dog kennel in the back. As for the bigger die-cast trucks about the closest I've seen is a white mid sixties Ford.
Yeah I have the '79 with the mantis down the side. I tore off the stupid cap and the inside of the bed is worthless with all the structure of the toy exposed. I made a tonneau cover from black mat board and it looks OK, but without the stupid cap there is no tailgate. I would like to paint this thing over but am not that ambitious at this time. I did once paint an early mustang by masking all the windows and tires. I would prefer an earlier model as they have better grills than the '79 (in my opinion). Good news is Matchbox has a nice '56 Ford pickup, latest version is red with Texaco on the door. I just painted out the Texaco signs and it looks great.
I'm pretty sure the Sam Walton truck is a '79. I used to work for Wally World and they would stick me in the toy dept., so i would spend most of my time looking through the die-cast and remote control trucks.
