I've got a '77 LTD with a 351 Windsor, and boy does this thing go through the power steerling fluid. When I walk out to the car after work, the front drivers side tire is sitting in it. I probably add about a quart a day.
I can't for the life of me find where it's coming from. The PO replaced the pump in an attempt to solve the problem, but the new pump has not helped. The hoses look good, and so does the oil cooler. I haven't worked with power steering much, so any help as to where to get started would be appreciated.
By the way, what fluid should I be using? I had been using type F ATF, but after a while started throwing the cheapo PSF in there.
I'm not familiar with your specific vehicle but the only thing that comes to mind to check that you didn't mention is the reservoir. Maybe it has developed a crack and is seeping out there? Just a thought.
When mine was leaking I had to pressure wash the area (or degreaser and a hose will work). Then when it's dry, start it up and look over every inch of the hoses and steering box with a light. Mine ended up being and hole in the hard metal line - it had been rubbing on the steering box. With that much leaking, it should be a pretty large leak.
