#1 plug

Which plug is the #1 on a 351M? I need to set the timng.

As you are facing the engine, it will be the first plug on the left side of the engine. Also, there might be a "1" on your distributor cap, it should be approximately in the 1-2 o'clock position as you are facing the engine and looking down on the cap. You could trace that plug wire to the #1 spark plug too if you want.

A good trick to remember which is #1: on all American V8 engines the cylinder banks are always offset. #1 cylinder will be the first cylinder on the forward most bank.

It's the front cylinder on the driver's side on all ford V8's.

No, 53fatfndr had it correct, front cylinder on the passenger side for the 351M.

yep... passenger side is correct... I was thinking about something else and had a massive brain fart...
