78 f150 flywheel
i just bought this truck a little while ago from a salvage yard w/ 300 inline 6 with the intention of swapping in my 351W i am slowly building. my question is can i take the flywheel off the 351w and put it on the 300 for a while. the truck was way out of time when the old owner went to start it a knocked about three teeth off the flywheel. I need the the truck almost everyday and trying to catch the flywheel is a pain. Is it posible to swap a small block flywheel to the inline. thanks for any input.

No, as far as I know. The inline six has a neutral ballance because sixes are naturally well ballanced. The early windsors had a 28oz imballance that changed to a 50 something ounces in the 80's. V8's and six cyl flywheels are not interchangable. I learned this by using the search option on this forum, love it.

You could take the flywheel to a machine shop and have the imbalance weight machined off the back side to make it neutral, but for less money you could just pick up another flywheel from the wrecking yard. I'd think about 20-30 bucks would do it.
