badge removal

I have the two ranger badges which i want to take off. How do i go about doing that? a hair dryer and just peeling? I don't want to damage the paint, and i am assuming the hair dryer can't get that hot. Then what can i clean the paint with to prepare it properly for new badges? just alcohol?? thanks

Sounds like you're headed in the right direction. I went to pull mine off, I used WD-40 and a plastic scraper. I pried a little with a screwdriver against my plastic scraper. Not very hard at all. Prepping it with alcohol should be more than enough.

Only time I took mine off was before paint and yeah...not much care about it lol. If you pull the fender off it's much easier, you can hit them from behind, at least on my '94.

Some badges have pilot holes that you will expose when you remove the badges.

I think he's putting new badges on, so there should be no problem.

Yeah I assume the '05 Ranger will have the pilot holes. Mine did. Two small holes on each end and a big one in the middle. I had the fender off (crash repair...), just put a half inch stainless steel cylinder against the back of the badge, one hit with a sledge and it popped right off.

I have used fishing string to get behind the badge,so it will not mess up the paint.that was on badges with no pilot holes, just some adhesive...

It does have pilot holes, or at least my 03 did. I will probably use a hairdryer, as i think the paint can handle that heat, after all, it probably gets hotter in the sun all day. I used a screwdriver to remove them and a plastic scraper on the last truck and added my own dents on each side, of course i didn't notice until i was done. I think i may just heat 'em up good and peel them off. As for the extra adhesive, what do you all suggest that won't mess up my paint? thanks...(new badges are going on)

Blytheville is in the very northeast corner of Arkansas. If you go north a couple of miles, you'll end up in Missouri, if you go east a couple of miles, you'll be in the mighty Mississippi River. Idk what adhesive to put on there. I've only taken mine off. I never replaced them...

oops....i should have specified... the badges come with adhesive on them, or rather foam tape. What about the extra junk that sticks from the original badges? Will the alcohol clean the surface and get rid of silicone and wax and properly prep the surface.
