Can't think of any special tools......just some sockets, rachet, torque wrench, a breaker bar, needle nose pliers, possibly a deadblow hammer or some sort of hammer, and some pentrating oil are all I can think of.

Also, make sure you replace the thin yellow o-ring that fits onto the hub itself. This is a vacuum seal and if it is damaged you will have issues with your 4x4 engaging since the hubs are vacuum operated. Inspect the large and small axle seals as well. The large seal (close to the universal joint) will need to be pressed on. The smaller seal can be pressed on by hand and is the one that seals off the axle tube itself. When it goes bad it usually separates and breaks into two pieces. If your truck has a lot of miles on it, you might be better off just changing those seals to be on the safe side. Other than that, all you need is a little time and patience.
