Mechanical temp gauge

I just bought a mechanical temp gauge for my 410. I was wondering if i can run the mechanical gauge and the stock. Is there some kind of T fitting or would i be better off to just run the mechanical gauge?

you can run both, but I would find a plug in the manifold or engine block to install the mechanical guage.

Just get a "T" and install both at the same place. It is just before the thermostat and that is where you want too read temperature.

You need to be sure the bulb for the mechanical gauge is into the water flow, if it is in a dead end pipe it will not read accurately.

bear a t won't work. there is no flow.

install the mechanical in the thermostat neck and leave the stock one where it is. this is how i have mine setup. this allows you to watch for a bad thermostat.

My mechanical on my '68 F250 390 reads on the gauge within 10 degrees of my infared temp gun. It warms up a little slow but works fine.

The thing about that is that there had to be liquid flowing around the guage for it to work properly and get an acurate reading. With it in the thermostat housing you wont get a reading until the thermostat opens.
