2004 explorer audiophile system

I have a 2004 explorer with the audiophile system. I replaced the door speakers with polk db 5 x 7 's. It was a great improvement. The next thing I wanted to address was the factory sub. It just isn't cutting it. I bought an alpine 350 watt amp and a jl audio sub.I have taken my truck back to my local shop three times so far and they still haven't gotten it right. I want to use the stock head unit because of the 6 disc changer. In turn my shop is trying to use a line converter. They have tried at the head unit and at each of the door speakers. It sounds like the amp isn't getting enough voltage. Any suggestions?

does the amp except speaker level inputs
maybe try wiring it that way-- see if any difference
also with your line converter-- try using just 1 speaker input
not 2-- sometimes on stock systems(depending on config) the
neg. speaker wires can be common or even ground- which can cause
problems for the line converter and amp

I guess I should ask the same question. Does the audiophile system have an external amp for the main speakers? I know there's one for the factory sub. Does that one amp power everything. I didn't want to use the speaker level inputs. I think I would lose even more sound quality.Has anyone ever tried to do this?

The audiophile uses a external amp for the sub, probably mounted on the sub box. You have to use the output of the factory sub amp and run it into a line level convertor. The inputs for the factory sub amp (AKA the Head unit sub outputs) are not high enough to run the aftermarket amp. Also the factory sub amp turn on wire will not turn on the aftermarket amp. Again, not enough power.
The main speakers are powered from amps internal to the headunit.
