The dealership tech says he can't remove the rear hub to inspect bearings and find the cause of some noise, because the housing is bent! Says I need a new rear end. I went off the road to avoid a collision a over a year ago, and rocked back-and-forth hard. Bent the rim on the same side. Have new front ball joints already because of the same incident. Also, new body panels on the right, new super cab rear door, new running board, new bumper, new front quarter panel, and repaired bed. All bodywork.
I don't know where to start. This is big bucks and I think the dealership body shop (which did the initial repair) should have picked up on this at the time, when the insurance company was in the loop. Insurance refused the ball joint claim at 6 months after the accident, and I don't blame them. Now, over a year later I need a new rear end? What else is going to happen? A bent frame? I already chewed through a set of tires on the front because of alignment issues.
What do you all think about this? It's like the accident that won't ever end and my beloved F-350 continues to suffer. I keep thinking instead of running off the road when I was cut off, I should have mashed the jerk up against a tree.
I saw a rearend off a brand new f250 on ebay yesterday for dirt cheap.. of course the auction had not ended but it was around $300 and ended today I think..
There's a guy on another site that had a 10.5" rear end with 3.73s and a Detroit locker in it for $750. Said almost everything had less than 100 miles on it and was installed by a professional. He's in MI. PM me if you want a link to his ad.
