I noticed a gas leak around the line feeding into the carb.
I loosened the clamp to cut the end off and clean it, and the hose SHOT off and squirted as all the way to the firewall. Glad it shot away and not toward me.
Anyway, it's a mechanical fuel pump and I wouldn't think that fuel pressure should be that high on it.
Also, sometimes when I shut the truck off, it will kind of make this growling noise and it's almost like it's dieseling. It wants to turn over a couple more times and I'm pretty sure it's shooting gas backwards out the top of the carb.
I've replaced all the vacuum lines that are left so I'm certain there's no vacuum leaks.
Turn over? You mean like dieseling? That's usually a timing issue, but I recall reading about a solenoid that plunges when it has been shut off....I guess closes the throttle.
Not positive it pertained to this 300 though. Check your Chiltons.
