door problems
thanks, tim
1: It could be the door striker Bolt on the cab, that the door latches on. Adjust or replace as needed. To find out if it's #1, look at the striker bolt closely, does it still have the plastic roller on the bolt? what is it's condition? if it's cracked or missing, you need a new striker.
2. Your doors are out of adjustment, and need to be adjusted. Check the body lines for the doors cab and fenders, do they line up? could suggest a adjustment is needed.
3. The hinges are worn out on the doors requiring new door hinge pins, and shims. With the door open, grab the bottom of the door and lift it up and down. How much movement is there? If excessive you need to shim and put in new door hinge pins in the hinges.
4. one of the cab mounts is gone causing the cab to flex, therefore the door being out of adjustment. How is the body line of the bed and cab? is the bed lines sitting higher than the cab lines? Looking at the bottom of the truck inspect the rear cab mounts. Are the really cracked and worn, rusted around them? How are the bushings, do they look squashed? are they still there?
how is the frame around the mounts? check all the cab mounts for good measure.-------------
hope this helps.
I would believe it is the first one and you can take off the door striker with a 5 star socket bit(torx I think) or a set of vice grips. If you can take off the washer then all you need to buy are some little grey plastic peices that can be found at a ford dealership, autozone, O'riellys, and most part stores.
IF you can't take off the washer then you'll need a new stricker from any of the same places. Good luck
