99 F250 Superduty 7.3L Diesel Fuel Smell

Noticing a diesel fuel smell near the driver side right front wheel well as well as a little inside the cab, just started the last 2 days. I do not notice any leaks as to what I can see or fuel going down on my fuel gauge. Any ideas?

Also, check the engine valley close to the fuel filter for any signs of leakage or pooling in the valley. It doesn't seem like it takes much to get the smell in the cab.

Check the coolant resevoir. I had a cracked injector and it was taken to the stealer due to fuel smell in cab.

Could be O ring in water separator valve leaking too though. First dealer charged me $295 to change the O ring and the smell was still there. After a visual inspection (I'm no Ford Certified Diesel Mechanic) I noticed about 4" of diesel fuel in my coolant resevoir.

The first dealer was not willing to refund the $295, "cuz our tech said the o ring was bad and leaking". I argued about how my truck went into the stealer out of town on our 10 day vacation because their guy missed the fuel in the coolant resevoir, and that I thought their tech didn't know what else to check and missed the coolant, but he insisted their guys don't fix it if it is good.

Sorry to vent.

Look at the coolant resevoir for separated fluids.

Sounds like a classic case of orings on the drain valve of the filter housing. bcd has them for $6.
