I have a 05 250 with a 8' Western Ultra mount, I hit a stump last year, but not harder than I have hit stuff in the past with other trucks that I have. I have actually hit things on purpose harder with other trucks. well this hit bent the frame. I had the frame on the truck straightened and it has bent twice more without hitting anything. Does anybody else have a similar problem or know of anybody? ..Thanks Bill
It bends right behind the front tire on the drivers side. It bends very easy. This is the first year for the coilspring front so there are no leafs to give added strength. I think there is a problem with this frame.
Wow thats hard to beleive ,I've always heard ford has one of the best frames out there for plowing, I have been plowing with an 8 ft fisher on my 01 going on 5 years now and have hit many stumps, boulders and trees along my road when plowing. Never got any frame damage or frontend damage. Have heard of alot of Dodge frames bending while plowing, but never a Ford. Think i'd be sick if i had a 05 and that happened to me. Hope you get to the bottom of it. gl Mike
Maybe it is the way the plow is bolted on to the frame. I would suspect maybe they left off some support brackets. I know some plow frames had supports that connected way back on the frame under the cab. You might want to check with the plow manufacturer.
I find this very hard to take in. Ford has the thickest frame of the bunch right now, and the frames are sturdy. This is the first time I've ever heard of something like this.
Obviously you hit very hard, and weakened the frame. The problem is not the truck frame, but basically the facts are you had an accident (with the plow hitting an object) with frame damage and an incorrect repair, also possibly some checking to see if all the mounting brackets were used. Time to call the insurance co for a claim. A fellow worker was plowing and hit a sewer cover hard and it sent him into the windshield , and put 6 ripples or buckles on the both sides of the truck in similar spots. also a bent frame . total damage was $4800 and the insurance co paid it. Things happen.
Yep, you will probably get a new frame through insurance, as I doubt they have a sectioning procedure for it (although they might). It's a safety issue at this point. An impact to the front (not plowing) will no longer throw the air bags at the right timing and probable frame failure in another impact. You should definitely get it to a reputable body shop with proper frame set up to determine what needs to be done.

I been thinking this also , Bad install of the plow frame, but also, have an uncle who owns an old school bodyshop (still uses lead in body repairs last time i heard) anyway once he told me a frame should never be heated or maybe it was overheated as it weakens the steel, was just wondering if the plow installer might have used a tourch to burn holes, instead of drilling.
