Cold Starting
I have a 2000 powerstroke that has been hard starting since I bought it new. If the temperature gets much below 30 F, I have to plug it in or it will start hard or not at all. The Ford garage has looked at it recently and tells me it starts normal. They tell me that it should be plugged in below 36F. Is this true? I had a 96 powerstroke before and it seemed to start anytime. I don't drive my pickup much and it seems to start harder if it sets for awhile. Is this coincidence or could there be a connection. I really have to pay attention in the winter time where I shut it off to make sure I am not stranded. I am thinking about buying a generator, just to make sure I don't get stranded. Any thoughts on what I should do?

Do a search for the Glow Plug Relay (GPR), as this seems to be your problem (as well as a lot of us, I'm currnetly going through this problem). The truck should start fine as long as the glowplug system in working, I've heard it should be fine down below 30'.
