which is the better spring set-up? as far as i can tell coils pretty much offer just a better ride and sharper turn radius, is that all? or is there something else i missed? just wondering before i start dumping endless money into my 2004 or just spring up for a 2006 with a better front suspension if it indeed is better and worth the extra money to get.

Chk out a post on here about the "Death Wobble".
Its a problem some of the guys are having with the new coil setup.
I'm looking at a new truck soon so i'm watching this like a hawk.

I think most of the problems with the wobble seems to be with the lighter gas motors. My 05 with PSD does not have the symptoms at all.
Hmmm, interesting. I was wondering what that was all about. My PSD doesn't have those wobble symptoms I read about either. I didn't think about determining the engine weight. Is that what it is? You would think the designers of these trucks would have recognized that and found a remedy by now.
My 05 F350 PSD CC SB handles like a cadilac, well, except on bumpy concrete roads where it bounces down the highway. No "death wobble" though.
I have one of theose punny little v10s and I do not get a wobble. I run 75 - 80 mph no problems. I do get some bounce on bumpey roads but I have 4X4 with the camper package so the springs are pretty stiff.
I have an 03 with leafs all way around. no complaint here. I did get to drive, an 05 f350 crew with long bed, and I really didn't like the way it rode. Seemed to have more of a "floaty" feel to it like an old 70's car, and really leaned in turns compared to my 03.
I've owned a 99 V10 with leafs and now an 05 PSD with coils. No problems with either. I like the coils for the tighter radius as it makes a big difference with the 5er. I can not feel a difference in ride.
I am considering an aftermarket steering damper however. I do not experience the wobble others have talked about, but the 05 seems to wander a bit more than the 99. Could be tires ... I have the 18" Continentals on this truck, where the 99 had 16" Firestones.

Have you looked at interco's thornbirds? They are susposed to provide a nice ride on the road, but have big sidewall lugs that will help greatly if you get that construction trailer in a little bit of the soft stuff. I like them a lot and have a pair of 38's on order for my 250 which i am lifting 6 inches. I hope it fits . I may need a little body lift. Good luck with the lift and post some pictures!
Death wobble is typically an issue of caster, which "usually" is an issue with lift height (with radius arms/control arms and coil springs). My '05 V10 sits almost exactly an inch higher than the exact same truck with the PSD...maybe that's why some V10s are experiencing death wobble. I've never had a problem with it though. My 05 V10 rides and handles very nice...for a 3 1/2 ton truck. What is better though, I doubt there is a perfect answer.
I have a 04 CC King Ranch, PSD, 8ft bed, 18" stock rims, 53000 miles. I have never had any problems driving down the road from 1 to 99 MPH. I rotate the tires every oil change. The only problem I ever encountered was shortly after I bought it, I was at Branson, MO (narrow roads) and attempted to make a u-turn, well to make long long story short, make sure you give yourself plenty of room!!!
