No it won't. The FE series has a unique bellhousing bolt pattern which won't match any of the engines which came stock in a 78. You'll need to swap out the whole tranny if it's an auto or the bellhousing if it's a manual.
Engine mount pedastals, mounts, and trans will need swapped, for starters. However, there were thousands and thousands of '73-'76 360 & 390 equipped trucks that would make good parts donors, and are littering boneyards all over the country.
I think (may need corrected here) that you could also scavenge parts from the '65 - '72 trucks, too (same basic engine cradle & same Twin-I set-up from '65 - '79, with minor revisions along the way). These rigs also were easy to find with an FE series motor under the hood.
