Cool thread.

I made homemade workbenches:
http://frederic.midimonkey.com/yard/garage/IM001765.JPG

And yes, that odd "frame" sticking out has a purpose. It houses my homemade CNC plasma cutter machine:
http://frederic.midimonkey.com/cnc2/IM001903.JPG

I made a homemade tamper (Hey, it's a garden tool!):
http://frederic.midimonkey.com/yard/IM001102.JPG

A homemade welder stand (for two welders):
http://frederic.midimonkey.com/yard/...t/IM001659.JPG

An engine run stand:
http://frederic.midimonkey.com/runstand/runstand-16.JPG

A base for my bandsaw so I can roll it out of the way:
http://frederic.midimonkey.com/yard/...e/IM002160.JPG

Made a few "BXA" holders for my lathe's toolpost:
http://frederic.midimonkey.com/yard/...a/IM002143.JPG

Made a cutting fluid/coolant system for my lathe and floor-standing drill press which is right next to it:
http://frederic.midimonkey.com/yard/...t/IM001763.JPG

Made a lathe steady rest for better clamping while turning the ID of tubing:
http://frederic.midimonkey.com/yard/...t/IM002234.JPG

Made a collet holder for my lathe (drawbar):
http://frederic.midimonkey.com/yard/...g/IM002090.JPG

Then made a more massive version of the drawbar:
http://frederic.midimonkey.com/yard/...g/IM002169.JPG

Made several "giant" t-slot nuts, which I use to mount odd things onto my lathe's saddle in place of the toolpost.

Also made an end mill holder for my lathe, which I used to hold a large end mill so I could make the t-slot nuts and various other things:
http://frederic.midimonkey.com/yard/...g/IM002145.JPG

While not a tool, I did make a 13.5' wide steel open-frame table for my studio gear: http://frederic.midimonkey.com/studio/IM000785.JPG

There's more but that's what I can think of at the moment,

My son-inlaw and I built the stand my 292 engine is sitting on. The parts came from an old weight lifting machine that had been scrapped. We cut the base to narrow it and welded it back together. Added casters up front so it could be moved around.

That's true, technically superbumper is a "tool" because it's useful for recycling imports

when i was working for john deere in mannheim, germany. i took a 1 5/8 hex drive shaft from a 7200 6 row JD planter and cut it me 2 pieces about 2.5 feet long and cut one into a super punch and heated the other bar, pressed one end flat and made a super chisel out of it. they are extream, but i have used them time and time again. i havent needed anything any bigger so far.

I made a tool for cleaning my gutters. I fastened an air blower on the end of a flexible plactic pipe and put a bend in the end so it would blow down into the gutters and blow out the leaves. I didnt need a ladder anymore. I could stand on the ground and use it.

Bunches of specialty wrenches, spanner screwdrivers, circle-cutting jig for the plasma, etc. Lots of electronic test equipment. Cheap wrenches and sockets do have their place!

Made a leak-down tester for small engines before the mfrs. came out with one.
Various wrenches/drivers as needed. Made an impact puller for stack pulleys on lawn tractors that works great.

And in the Boy Scouts I made a left-handed smokeshifter.

I also made a "boardstretcher" that I give to my first-year wood shop students to use when they complain to me that they cut a board for their project too short.

My Homemade steel bender, thick steel plate with a few grade 8 bolts installed
as pins, and a big long heavy bar. works great.

This tool I made for removing valve seals on a Suzuki GS 1000 engine, can also be used
for pulling other stuff, like tough spark plug boots in tight spots.

I have a stainless steel kitchen sink installed in my bench and this washing machine motor
along with a barrel pump, an old beer keg and the washing machine controls make a
great solvent station.
