I made some progress!!! I was able to breathe fire into my old truck last week and then on Saturday I was able to drive it around the block a few times! Some of the neighbors might not be too happy as I only have 6" of pipe on the exhaust manifolds and a heavy foot (there are several long black marks down the block that were accompanied by a huge cloud of tire smoke). Unfortunatley the wife wasn't able figure out the camera so I didn't get any action shots....agh.
Here is a pic that my 11yr old son made of my truck last week (note the old style evaporative air conditioner on the passenger side of the cab)
Here is my truck with my daily driver in the background
Thanks everyone!! This site goes along way to keep me motivated and to lift me back up when I hit the low spots.
Bobby
Congrats on the fire breathing monster. I am a little disappointed that there are no burnout action pics. Hehe, just kidding. I did notice a couple little burnout marks in the pics. Your kid will be drawing pics of your truck forever now (It gets addicting, I have a few of mine). Oh yeah, don't worry about the nieghbors. Congrats.
I don't know...the drawing is pretty cool too. Yes...I am a little disapointed in no action shots, but its all good. That had to be awesome just to get to drive it finally! Keep up the good work.
Thanks guys. I tried on the action shots but my camera is a bit finicky and the wife must not have held her tongue right.....I'll try again soon!
I did manage to test out the Line-Lock (roll control) solenoid. It works great!! Of course without the bed on the truck it doesn't take much to light em up and I can smoke em up through all the gears. I guess I'll have to search the local wrecking yards for a posi unit for a 9" Ford.
I was supposed to get to this point by the end of summer, I'm only a couple of months late, at least I made it by the end of the year. I'm hoping to get an exhaust system installed the week after X-mas.
I have no idea what final color will be. I think the poor old beast will be a mish-mash of colors for a couple of years.
I don't care for the truck, but I love those mirrors on the drawing. I gotta get a set of those for my truck. Just kiddin.... The truck looks great and looks like you've been doing some work.. Keep it up.
AX, I think that is supposed to be a blower and air cleaner sticking up out of the hood. Here is another drawing that he made the other day. this one has more detail (windshield, seats, etc) I did notice that he didn't put the evaporative cooler on this one but he did add fuzzy dice to the rear view mirror, and some extra headlights)
The kid cracks me up!
Congratulations Bobby, I know your in a fun place with your project now! It stokes the old fire when you can get it to move under its own power. I bet that caddy sounded Bad!!!!

B/B Ford, Thanks, yes, it's awesome!! I can't seem to keep my foot out of it. I'm really itching to drive more than just around the block....I guess thats the next goal.
4tl8ford, I'm not sure where the crazy kid gets his ideas from. He was telling me how I needed to modify the front fenders and grill to add another pair of headlights....I think the darkside has claimed him.
Carl, Thanks for the offer. The trip to Texas was probably as fast as those old green fenders ever went. I'd make the trip again right now but I have no place to put the ice chest...LOL
Vern, Damn the torpedos, full steam ahead!!! There are plusses to living out in the desert. I hope you get a warms spell and can get some progress made
