Adding 12v accessory plug in bed.....

I've seen some brand other than Ford (don't remember the name) that offers a 12v accessory plug in the bed area. For me, this would be a great option as we do a lot of camping, football tailgating, etc. out of the back of the truck (plug in air compressor pumps, small TV's, etc.).

Does anyone have any recommendations as to aftermarket suppliers that offer a good quality weather tight 12v plug? Has anyone added one to their bed?

Ford offers that as standard equipment in all of the 2001-2005 Explorer Sport-Trac models. They put it in the driver-side of the cargo bed (by the tailgate), and it's weather-proof. If you can't find it after-market, you can always go to your local Ford parts counter.

Thanks for the replies. Jeff, come to think of it, it probably was in the Sport trac where I saw it a couple of years ago.

I've located a couple, one seems to be a decent quality product thru Bass Pro:

I can't seem to pull up any pics of the bed of the Sport Trac to see where it is located. Any suggestions?

napa 10ga wire from the batt and a fuse put a bed light in as well

Go to a Sport-Trac and lower the tailgate. Facing forward, it will be on your left, just ahead of the tailgate, and just below the top edge of the box.

Went to my local Bass Pro Shop last night and found one that looked as though it would last for years.

73mach1, adding a bed light is a great idea also, thanks for the input.
