Hello Nick and John. John, where is Frognot? Nick, what part of the desert? I assume it is on the Eastern slopes of the Sierras? Not sure where Cathedral City is. If you guys want, you can add your home locations to the Frappr map. It's a helpful tool.
Tim

Memphis, frapper map is a map showing where members live - located by their zip codes. Frapper is the name of the website that set the maps up. Go to http://www.frappr.com/ftenorthernchaptermembers to see the map, and add yourself.
The map is handy when someone plans an event.
From your location you might also look at the Southern Cal chapter - you can be a member of both groups (I attend Souther Cal chapter events myself).

You are always welcome here!
Thanks WillyB. Learn something new every day. At this rate I figure my head will explode in a few more weeks. LOL.
I've met you Chet. How's the kids highboy? Did the headers and brush guard fit okay?
Hey Tim, How goes the kitchen? The offer still holds, if you need some parts let me know. We'll go scout out some pick and pull places and line up some parts.
The brushguard will take a bit of work to fit. It looks like I'll have to cut slots into the front fender to fasten them to the frame but it has dropped to a lower priority.
We have now completely rebuilt the engine just about ready for reassembly. Seems the '73 didn't have hardened valve seats and the heads needed to be redone. Oh, and then we needed to hot tank the intake manifold to get rid of all the coking. Oh yeah, then we needed to tear down the short block, hot tank it, replace all the bushings (lots of brass showing on the bearings), just in time for christmas. While it is in there, we are changing the cam for something that will help this 360 breathe a little better.
I'll be picking up the short block later this week and begin the reassembly. My son has wire brushed the headers and painted them white (I happened to have some high temp white paint on hand). It will be interesting to see what exhaust heat will do to those pretty white headers. I think that we are about two weeks away from having this rig ready to put on the street. A drive up the hill would make a good break in cruise.
BTW, do you have any clue as to what year truck that tie rod came off of? I can't find a cross-reference number to anything that looks like it. For those of you not in the know, this tie rod has two tie rod ends and two adjusting clamps instead of the two piece unit with one adjusting clamp common for early '70s High Boys. Just trying to make sure I know what to order when replacing tie rod ends. It worked great, though. Brought the toe right in. As of now, it is a mean looking rolling chassis with a banged up body.
It kind of looks like it found a few saturns and chevys and ate them.
